New Garden Bed
This is the one I have been working on over the weekend.  It is really good soil with lots of composted grass clippings and mulched leaves mixed in.  I started peas near the porch where there is a wire trellis attached (not visible) for them to climb on.  Also I put in Ruby Red Beets and Danvers Carrots at that end.  Tomorrow probably spinach and bunching onions.

Zucchini #2 - July 8th, - Good thing I didn't wait one more day.  I can't believe I'm going to eat the whole thing.

Here is the new concrete mixer.  Surprisingly it arrived on a truck practically completely assembled.  I only had to attach the handles and a protective cover for the motor and gearing.  I have not tried it yet as I want to buy a grease gun first.  I will probably go to Home Depot after my nap and get one.  Tomorrow the work fun starts.

4th of July: Hurdle Mills, NC.  Here is a photo of my first Black Zucchini Squash harvested this morning at 8:30am.  This is the first of many I suspect.  I also have Straight Neck Yellow Squash coming on and Cherry Tomato's beginning to ripen.

The Amazing Black Zucchini Plant

Posted by Picasa I love
these plants.  They are fast growing and have a lush tropical look not to mention abundant fruit production.
